Speakers announced for ECT expert national webinars
The NIoT has curated a line-up of distinguished experts to share their invaluable knowledge, thoughts, and experiences with ECTs and mentors enrolled in our programme.
The national webinars will form a core part of the NIoT’s ECF offer, which will deliver impact to thousands of new teachers from September 2023. The webinars will sit alongside a powerful and effective 1:1 mentoring programme, with personalised self-study and local networking seminars to problem-solve and promote peer learning.
The programme provides more impact in less time, by respecting teacher and mentor time and expertise, and by providing clean, lean systems that make the programme run smoothly.
The power of inspiration
Katy Micklewright, head of ECF at the National Institute of Teaching, said: “While we know that one-and-done professional development isn’t enough, we also think there’s a place for high-profile speakers to share their knowledge, thoughts and experiences.
“It provides inspiration, sparks conversations, provokes thought.
“With this vision in mind, we have assembled a panel of esteemed experts in their respective fields, and we’re offering all ECTs and mentors on our programmes the chance to hear them speak.”
We are delighted to present our three speakers:
Tom Bennett OBE @tombennett71
Tom Bennett is the government's behaviour tsar and is founder of Research-Ed. He will speak about practical models and advice to help early career teachers build a supportive and engaging learning environment
Kate Jones @Katejones_teach
Kate Jones, a prolific author with a wealth of knowledge on retrieval practice and assessment practices that support learning and growth, will be a dynamic voice in our webinars. Her expertise in formative assessment will empower ECTs and mentors, enabling them to cultivate effective evaluation methods to enhance student progress.
Alex Quigley @alexjquigley
Alex Quigley, one of the nation's leading literacy experts and a trusted developer and quality assurer of materials for the Education Endowment Foundation, will be joining us to shed light on effective literacy practices. With his vast expertise, Alex Quigley will guide ECTs and mentors in fostering literacy skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning.
Katy continued: “In an ideal world, new teachers and mentors would be given a huge amount of time to enhance their professional development. But often there just isn’t enough time in busy schools to perfect everything, though as leaders we aspire to do so.
“Our programme has been iterated and tested to ensure that it provides MORE impact for busy teachers and mentors in LESS time, with an innovative approach to learning.
“Our content is streamlined, digestible and easy to access. It gives the ECT and mentor a scaffold to support their learning, so they have access to what they need to know, when they need to know it.”
The NIoT is immensely proud to present these national webinars, which promise to be both innovative and exciting additions to our programme. By bringing together these influential speakers, we aim to elevate the learning experience for ECTs and mentors, enabling them to gain unparalleled insights and inspiration.
