Changes to NPQ funding for October 2024

We wanted to update you on some important changes to NPQ funding for autumn 2024

As part of the work done to support Covid recovery, DfE funding had meant that all NPQs were fully funded. This will no longer be the case.

It has now been confirmed that funding for the autumn 2024 cohort will target those teachers and leaders who work in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities.

Here are the changes in full:

  • For October’s cohort, the DfE will fund up to 10,000 places in total
  • All state schools will be eligible for fully-funded places on the NPQ in Headship, NPQ for SENCOs, NPQ in Leading Primary Maths and Early Headship Coaching Offer only
  • For all other NPQs, schools with the highest 50% of pupil premium pupils will be eligible for fully funded places, as well as early years and 16 to 19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage

You can find out whether if your school is eligible here: Funding for national professional qualifications (NPQs) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If you are not eligible for funding, you (or your school/trust) will need to self-fund your qualification. Prices for the programmes are listed on our website, and you’ll be invoiced for the full amount when you start your programme in October 2024. We’ll send you more instructions on payment once you have been accepted onto a programme.

With limited NPQ scholarships available, we would highly recommend applying as soon as possible in order to secure your place.

Applications for our NPQs are now open. Click here to apply or browse our programmes here.
