NIoT confirmed as ECT programme lead provider from September 2025
The National Institute of Teaching has been confirmed by the DfE as one of the lead training providers for the Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE), which was formerly referred to as the Early Career Framework (ECF), from September 2025. The ECTE will revise and improve what was formerly referred to as the ECF programme, maintaining the grounding in evidence, to ensure the highest standard of professional development for new teachers.
The contract announcement comes as part of the upcoming changes to the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and ECF core content frameworks, which will be rolled into one from September 2025 and referred to as the ITTECF Framework.
CEO of NIoT, Melanie Renowden said: “We are delighted to be confirmed as a training provider of the Early Career Teacher Entitlement from September 2025. Listening carefully to those on the frontline of teaching and learning, including through our founding school trusts and network of associate colleges, we’ve fine-tuned our approach to better meet the needs of teachers and their settings. Our updated ECT programme includes increased subject-specificity and flexibility for ECTs, mentors and the schools they serve.”
NIoT currently supports 8,000 participants (including ECTs and mentors) through our campuses and associate colleges, spread across all regions of England. Having recently achieved a successful outcome from Ofsted and over 95% satisfaction rates from our ECTs and mentors, our programme is designed to help nurture the aspirations and confidence of new teachers to enable them to continue a fulfilling career in education.
More information about the exciting updates we are making to the curriculum will be shared soon.
